Project Description

The location and natural setting of this project played a key role in the architecture of the home with interior and exterior design elements creating a fresh, innovative and even unconventional style. Setting this house apart is the dramatic architecture; soaring ceiling, exposed duct work and clearstory windows became the foundation for creating a truly amazing, beautifully aesthetic contemporary space. The clients envisioned each room would become an integral part of daily life; places they would love spending time in with potential for entertaining. Using basic interior design principals, the spontaneous geometry of this home needed to remain open and inviting with a clean, sleek and minimalist edge. Sharp lines, sweeping ceiling details and eye-catching neutrals give this home a cutting-edge vibe. Materials also play a big role in establishing style with a mix of sparkling finishes and a cool, contemporary color scheme keeping spaces bright and engaging. Customized, Charcoal Grey Italian White Oak Veneer was the trademark choice when paired with polished, Emerald Pearl granite in the kitchen, honed limestone in the master bathroom or even Ceasarstone in guest rooms. The flat-panel cabinetry doors and sleek hardware throughout unify the mix of wood and stone for a simplistic, sophisticated touch with several hydraulic lift glass front cabinets adding another level of refinement. Finally, unique elements like a clayey backsplash tile from Japan enhances the overall kitchen design, all while absorbing kitchen odors and excess moisture and reducing harmful VOC, perfect for this modern-day masterpiece. As far as entertaining potential, guests tend to congregate in the kitchen. This entire floor-plan has room for plenty of revelers even when the host is serving up food or libations from behind the sweeping island. A clever built-in nook, molded in the island allows friends and family to stay close without getting in the way. The open layout of this home didn’t limit a connection between the kitchen and adjoining rooms either. Instead, linking the dining area and great room to the kitchen required using related tones and textures to draw the eye from space to space with harmonious appeal.
