Project Description

Inspired by my journey to 10 small villages around Mediterranean Sea in 1995, this project is aiming to create attractive “Organic System” of life in Taiwan. The site in Taipei is surrounded by the beautiful small valley with a small stream. On the other side, the site condition close to the city requires quite high dense volumes in the small site. With the condition, how can we create the living space merging the precious surrounding nature in essential way? The architecture is separated into 35 small volumes and shifting flexibly by corresponding to the surrounding nature as if the volumes are lightly swinging in wind. The slight shifts of the volumes bring wind and water into the space, and protect people from the strong sun light. The living volumes are enclosed either by brushed anodized aluminum, which reflect soft light into the space of deep valley with a stream on the bottom, or by 5 different types of natural stones for the terraces, courtyard and gardens, where people see and touch in the life. The materials and details create the life with nature in contemporary way.
