Project Description
The Wesley School is a successful K-8 school that needed additional classroom, visual arts and administrative space.
For its 16 years of existence, Wesley has been tucked in the back of the very charming North Hollywood First United Methodist Church campus.
The design challenge was to resolve the programmatic needs, enhance identity and security, while integrating the new structure with the existing architecture.
The concept picked up on the gabled roof forms of the existing south façade, rising up to a two story brick structure visible to the street, establishing an identifiable entrance and courtyard. The front office and faculty facilities flank the entry court securing the campus.
The sweeping curve of the new building is punctuated by the glassy art classroom that is a beacon at night displaying the students creative talents.
