Project Description

A sleek spec home with luxurious custom details and spacious open living spaces from the Los Angeles-based general contractors and real estate development firm, L.A. Build Corp.

This house is a modern home with a basement which allows for more buildable space. The basement has a large common area and then separate guest rooms with a spacious home theater. The first floor is a large open space for all of the rooms including an office, living area, dining area, and kitchen. The second floor is mainly private rooms with balconies surrounding the home. L.A. Build Corp wanted the house to have privacy but give a more common feel with most rooms having access from the middle of the house.

The light fixtures are spectacular throughout the house – gorgeous and original pieces from Veneto Luce. This house was designed mainly for entertaining, so it was important to include kitchen appliances such as the double dishwashers. Since the area is open, it’s nice to not have unsightly residual dishes left on the countertops. The bathrooms have unbelievable sinks from Sonobath; truly mind-blowing.

This particular neighborhood has small lots, so the biggest challenge was how to use the space wisely and still have room for a decent backyard area. The basement is the obvious choice as L.A. Build Corp was able to gain an extra 1700-2000 square feet simply by building the basement. This allows more room for the backyard. The next challenge was how to create privacy without making the area feel closed off. Tall, more mature ficus trees were the answer here, filled in with smaller plants like Philodendron Xanadu.

The master bathroom is a beautiful example of well-placed fixtures. As you walk into the room the WC is to the left in a private area. The walk-in shower has plenty of room with a lovely bench and also features a separate exit out onto a private patio for yoga / sunbathing. The cabinets are floating and the large free-standing tub faces the west for beautiful morning baths.
