The renovation of a master bath in a home built in 2004 was imminent once the new homeowner took possession of her newly purchased residence. The over-reaching goal was to remodel for a “fresh start” and “to make it her own.” Objective · Remodel master bath with rustic elegance in client’s personal style · Use same footprint of space Challenge · Master bath entry (door swing) closed off space · Create a more open feel in water closet · Provide privacy for water closet · Incorporate free standing tub · Improve countertop space and cabinetry storage Design Solutions · Install new door with reversed door swing at entry for improved flow · Eliminate curb and wall at shower by installing barrier free shower base · Clear glass enclosure allows view to shower wall, creating illusion of larger water closet · Reversed plumbing walls in shower · Added pocket door at water closet for privacy · Tub deck & tub removed to open up floor space, freestanding tub relocated to corner · Designed new bank of vanity cabinets for more storage and counter space in new location · Added cabinetry storage in water closet · Dual vanities designed in a custom “furniture-look” piece to meet style aesthetics and storage needs Special Features · Custom bench in shower · Recessed soap/shampoo niche in shower · Marble Waterfall tile feature in shower is repeated at tub wainscot · Marble floor tiles tie into marble shower floor tile and is repeated at waterfall detail · Copper free-standing tub sets the tone for the rustic elegance aesthetic and with the tub’s white acrylic liner, allows for ease of maintenance · Large quartz countertop provides ample space and is a durable surface in bath · The quartz feature is repeated at shower bench and at bottom of niche · Custom Amish cabinetry not only meets clients aesthetic, but also provides generous storage · Custom cabinetry matching frames surround beveled mirrors, flanked on each side by wall mounted light fixtures for task lighting · An oil rubbed bronze finish on fixtures provides durability and repeats rustic elegant style throughout · Warm floor system with programmable thermostat adds a luxurious feature underfoot
