AIA Announces 2020 Healthcare Design Award Winners

This year, the Institute recognized eight projects that "help solve aesthetic, civic, urban and social problems."

The American Institute of Architects has announced the winners of its 2020 Healthcare Design Awards, recognizing eight projects that “help solve aesthetic, civic, urban and social problems while also being functional and sustainable,” according to an AIA press release. This year’s winners were selected in one of three different categories: built projects with a construction cost under $25 million; built projects with a construction cost over $25 million; and master planning urban design for healthcare settings.

The jury for this year’s awards comprised chair Ralph Johnson, FAIA, of Perkins+Will in Chicago; Curtis Fentress, FAIA, of Fentress Architects in Denver; Tushar Gupta, FAIA, of EYP Architects & Engineers in Houston; Carl Hampson, AIA, of SRG Partnership in Portland, Ore.; Claudine LeVan, AIA, of Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Del.; Sean A. Menogan of The UCHealth System in Denver; and William Roger, FAIA, of HOK in Los Angeles.
