Today, The American Institute of Architects announced the winners of its 2021 Architecture Awards, honoring 10 projects that exemplify “the best in contemporary architecture” and highlight “the many ways buildings and spaces can improve lives,” according to the Institute’s press release. When selecting this year’s winners, the nine-member jury evaluated overall design achievement, considering a sense of place, purpose, history, and environmental sustainability.
The jury for the 2021 Architecture Awards comprised chair Kim Yao, AIA, of Architecture Research Office, in New York; Phillip Bernstein, FAIA, of Yale School of Architecture, New Haven, Conn.; Melissa Daniel, Assoc. AIA, of Amentum, in Annapolis Junction, Md.; Magdalena Glen-Schieneman, AIA, of MGS Architecture, in Marina del Rey, Calif.; Jim McDonald, FAIA, of A&E Architects, in Missoula, Mont.; Marianne McKenna, AIA, of KPMB Architects, in Tornoto; Connor Merritt, AIAS, of Washington University in St. Louis, in Waite Hill, Ohio; Keith Lashley, AIA, of HKS, in Winter Haven, Fla.; and JoAnn Wilcox, AIA, of Mithun, in Seattle.
