Winners Announced for the 2020 AIA/HUD Secretary’s Awards

The American Institute of Architects and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development selected projects by Landon Bone Baker Architects in Chicago and SMR Architects in Seattle.

The American Institute of Architects and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development have announced the winners of their 2020 AIA/HUD Secretary’s Awards, selecting two projects from Chicago and Seattle that “demonstrate affordable, accessible and well-designed housing, proving that good design is not exclusive,” according to an AIA press release. This year’s awards recognized housing projects by Chicago–based Landon Bone Baker Architects and Seattle–based SMR Architects.

The jury for the 2020 awards comprised chair Emily Roush-Elliott, AIA, Delta Design Build Workshop; Valarie Franklin, AIA, of Moody Nolan; Michael Willis, FAIA; Guido Hartray, AIA of Marvel Architects; S. Claire Conroy of the Sola Group; Eileen Faulkner ofHUD; and Regina Gray of HUD.
