The American Institute of Architects has revealed the winners of its 2023 Regional & Urban Design Awards. The latest iteration of a program established to celebrate excellence in urban design, regional and city planning, and community development, this year’s honors went to projects from Evolve Environment :: Architecture; KieranTimberlake, Tao+Lee Associates, and BNIM; Ross Barney Architects and AFHJ Architects; EskewDumezRipple with Marlon Blackwell Architects and Andropogon Associates; and Inform Studio.

“Buildings never arise in isolation,” states an award description on AIA’s website. “The best planning accounts for the entire built environment, local culture, and available resources—modeling architecture’s promise and true value to communities.”

The jury for the 2023 Regional & Urban Design Awards comprised chair Victor Buchholz, AIA, of Memphis, Tenn.–based LRK; Kotaro Nakamura, AIA, from San Diego’s RNT Architects; Marilys Nepomechie, FAIA, of Florida International University in Miami; New York–based Vanessa Quirk; and Yuting Zhang, AIA, of Gensler in Boston.
