Project Description

This project started with a 3600 sq. ft., single story, built in 1997, remodeled in 2017 a standard semi-custom Southwest designed home. Original build had bump outs, wall niches, coffered ceilings, eyebrow arches, paint grade doors, honey oak cabinetry throughout and multiple different floor coverings. Our clients’ goal was to get back to “clean lines” and that open feel along with a semi industrial/transitional look. After complete interior demolition, we deleted the coffered ceilings, bump outs and wall niches. Closed in the pot shelf look that was so prevalent in Arizona homes during the 90’s and early 2000’s. Along with opening a few walls that created the “clean lines” look that our client was after. Cabinetry style is a shaker stain design in a dark finish throughout the home with quartzite counter tops in a mild design (Taj Mahal). The flooring selection was a big decision to pulling all things together. The selection was a plank style porcelain laid in a random pattern. Very large planks measuring 10" x 68" were used due to the open large rooms in this floor plan. The tile goes throughout with the exceptions of carpet at all bedrooms. Some of the specialty items that were added as we went along made a big difference in turning into the “industrial style look” to the home. Items that (Heritage Collectables) built in our shop to homeowner/contractor specifications and creation. The desk in the office was built in a combination of steel/glass. Double barn doors, as you enter the room with 100 year old wood from the Midwest and raw steel frames. Add in an exposed steel roller track with LED lights to accentuate the feel. A custom steel/cherry wood American flag was built to set behind the desk, which completes that Industrial look. The one item that really stands out on this project started as just a picture that the homeowner found online. It was a shot of a flag made out of distressed wood and was approximately 30" x 20". Our Heritage team put our heads together and built a custom Arizona flag with steel frame and 100 year old barn wood (like the barn doors) in a mammoth size of nine feet. The flag was built to a computerized scale to give it authenticity. The center star is made out of cedar wood from old mushroom box beds that were disassembled and washed to give an aged look. What a finish and presence this piece gives this beautiful Arizona home. Since the completion of the home in November 2017 we have been involved in multiple projects for this happy homeowner. It’s a testament to the “Heritage way” that our team strives to achieve.
