Project Description
The College of DuPage (COD) in Naperville, Ill. was fighting an uphill battle with its regional learning centers. Unlike the main campus, the 1990’s Naperville Center was outdated, uninviting and the student population of mostly commuter students saw their connection with the college dwindling.
Bailey Edward seized this opportunity to not only unify the center and its current students with COD’s main campus, but to position it as a recruiting tool to grab the attention of prospective students. By infusing bright accents of color, incorporating a modern design, implementing computer-integrated classrooms with centralized podium controls and completely transforming first floor layout, Bailey Edward has increased the learning center’s natural daylighting and capitalized its views of collaborative spaces – creating a new space that accommodates and appeals to the younger generation. Now, students can spend more time engaging in creative thinking on-site while actively collaborating with the faculty.
