Project Description

Builder’s Choice and Custom Home Awards Finalist

We chose the site for this new stable/carriage house to stay in keeping with regional traditions which placed auxiliary structures in close proximity to the house for ease of access. Our clients’ were seeking additional space for entertaining, house guest overflow, a workshop and storage space for an antique car collection.

We designed a “traditional New England stable/carriage house.” It provides a spacious room on the second floor of the larger mass for entertaining, a well-appointed garage space with two entrances perpendicular to each other which allows for optimum access for the clients’ antique cars. A workshop, tucked behind the gabled mass, has a high ceilinged work space which is flooded with light from the dormers above. This also allows for the storage of large machinery. Large doors to the outside allow for the storage of said large equipment. A covered porch at one exit allows work to be done outside under cover.
