Project Description
New Relic, the dominant leader in the Digital Intelligence market, approached IA Interior Architects with the mission of creating “Nerdvana” for 300+ Data Nerds who call Portland home.
IA and New Relic mapped company values to expression in space, including:
• Accountable
• BOLD
• Passionate
• Authentic
• Connected
• Frictionless
IA applied these values through designing for wellness, creativity, attraction and recruiting, brand and culture, collaboration, and integrated technology.
Bicycle culture is prominently celebrated in the welcome area, with guest bike parking and a bicycle art installation featuring a wood map graphic Portland bridges.
The All Hands space was designed to feel light and open, . . featuring a large Tech wall which can be used for presentations and global meetings porting in other New Relic locations.
IA designed to leverage the inspiring 360 degree views from the tallest building in Portland. Meeting booths and benches frame the perimeter of the entire floor, creating cozy nooks to tuck away for a conversation, a quick team meeting, tables to grab a bite to eat, and even a Campfire corner. (The realistic-looking flames are actually steam).
Room names celebrate a distinguished scientists and mathematicians, selected by New Relic. The IA team created place-making murals of diagrams and quotes for each space, educating visitors on earlier contributions to software and inspiring future innovation.
IA designed a comfortable, yet efficient space that is the heartbeat of the New Relic floors in the building. The amenity-focused 27th floor offers a diverse palette of place to accommodate a spectrum of large all-hands meetings, welcome recruits with a powerful first impression, host community events and meet-ups, as well as offering pockets of comfortable, more intimately sized meeting spaces for employees as an alternative to assigned desks on other floors.
