Project Description
Builder’s Choice and Custom Home Awards Finalist
The kitchen is part of a complete build out of a raw space on the 68th floor of the Four Seasons tower in Miami. The overall unit plan is open and the kitchen acts to terminate the main axis from the living room through the dining room and into the kitchen. The kitchen is opened up to encourage this view, with the backsplash becoming a figural stone wall that passes through the glass cabinetry at either side. We also custom designed the stainless steel shelving that fits around the thermador exhaust hood and reinforces the artistic nature of the room. We located the equipment in a wall of custom designed and fabricated millwork located perpendicular to the stone feature wall. Also, hidden in this wall is access to a large (15′-0″ long x 7′-0″) pantry for all the necessary kitchen needs.
The island further reinforces the view axis by being directly related to a ceiling feature in which the same walnut as the cabinetry returns as beams with stainless steel band inserted in them to relate back to the equipment. These beams are holding the pendant fixtures over the island, which is made from quartzite stone and a glass bar top. The glass bar top is held above the stone by custom designed and fabricated stainless steel arms.
