Project Description
Built in 1953 this ranch-style home in Scottsdale was in need of a kitchen makeover. The original kitchen/dining area totaled approximately 280 sq. ft. After complete demolition we opened the back of the home and extended it with an addition to approximately 640 sq. ft. This supplied us with enough room to redesign the main footprint and layout. The home owner requested a couple specialty items to turn this project into a fully serviceable area to meet their needs. There exact words were an “extremely large island” and a “wine cellar” to help with entertaining friends and family. The island ended up around 9' long x 5 1/2' wide and in a Group 5 granite. The granite has a vein that crosses in the island to create an “X” marks the spot conversation piece representing hidden treasure under the granite. You will have to receive the information on what is buried at that spot from the homeowner. The wine cellar is constructed out of “heart” redwood stacking 2 bottle deep horizontally. The entrance is a custom made redwood door with solid side lights including insulated glass. A custom handle artistically painted to give that old vine representation. For only measuring 7 1/2' wide x 6' deep and an 8' ceiling, this cellar has capacity for over 11,000 bottles. A small but mighty cellar indeed! Custom shaker style, white cabinets give this kitchen a contemporary feel. Slide out rolling drawers at every corner makes it easy to operate and find things. Full glass backsplash, LED under cabinet lighting and “touch” style faucet brings it up to current speed. Porcelain plank style flooring for durability and the gray wood tone brings in the white cabinets and the granite finishes. State of the art Wolf double ovens and cooktop all in digital operation for sophistication and satisfaction for the electronic minded owner. One aspect of this project that doesn’t show up in the photos is the Wi-Fi activated controlling. Legrand switches and controls for the lighting all operated through “Alexa” by voice command. The homeowners were very helpful in guiding us to the set up that they wanted to achieve. This kitchen is truly the focal point of the home and state of the art operation. Special thanks to the Heritage Team building such a satisfying remodel.
