Project Description

Reflective of the mission for the recently formed Health Education Alliance in Phoenix, Arizona, Creighton University engaged RDG Planning & Design to set the strategic vision and now subsequent execution for the new Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust Health Sciences Building. This seven-level, state-of-the-art, 180,000-square-foot facility will enable Creighton University to prepare the most practice-ready next generation of healthcare professionals in the region and across the nation. Sustainable Design practices are integrated not only to be responsive to the natural environment, but also will enhance the learning environment that emphasizes a collaborative pedagogy. The building’s architecture gives Creighton a distinct presence in Phoenix while reinforcing innovative relationships to its context. Proximity and visual relationships throughout the building connect the users to the site, diverse amenity spaces, and interdisciplinary relationships between programs. Four key drivers in the facility’s design include: Efficient, Collaborative, Flexible and Functional. This project is in collaboration with Plaza Companies as developer and Butler Design Group as Architect of Record.
