Tesla got a big boost from Panasonic Tuesday. The New York Post reports:
Elon Musk’s solar-panel factory in upstate New York just got a lifeline from Panasonic.
The Japanese electronics giant said Tuesday it will funnel $260 million into the tech billionaire’s solar-panel factory that’s under construction in Buffalo.
In a joint statement on Tuesday, the two companies said the facility is on track to begin production in summer 2017, and that they aim to ramp up the factory’s rate of solar-panel production to one gigawatt by 2019.
Panasonic had agreed in October to be a partner in the cash-guzzling megafacility, which will make newfangled photovoltaic cells that look like roof tiles.
