IALD Call for Nominations – 2018 Elections

Deadline for nominations is May 19, 2017, midnight CT.

The IALD Nominations & Elections Committee has announced its Call for Nominations for the association’s 2018-election cycle. Seven positions are open. They are as follows:

Director-at-Large – Four positions open in 2018, 2-year term
IALD position description: “A Director-at-Large may be either a non-voting or voting member of the association. The Board of Directors is charged with governing the affairs of the association and setting IALD’s strategic direction. Board members are fiduciaries of the corporation. Directors are expected to participate in at least four meetings each year, as well as general meetings of the membership, such as the Enlighten conferences and region/chapter meetings.”

Membership Committee Chair – one position open in 2018, 2-year term
IALD position description: “The Membership Chair leads the work of the Membership Committee. The Membership Chair must be a Fellow or Professional member of the Association.”

Membership Committee Member – two positions open in 2018, 2-year term
IALD position description: “The Membership Committee consists of five members: four members and the Membership Chair. The Membership Committee recommends acceptance or rejection of any applicant to voting grades of membership and also approves applicants for non-voting membership. The Membership Committee is responsible for development and/or assessment and/or revisions of membership requirements for voting and non-voting member grades. The Membership Committee meets at least four times a year either in person or via interactive communications such as conference calls or videoconferences. A member of the Membership Committee must be a Fellow or Professional member of the association.”

Voting members of the IALD may nominate candidates for all positions, in writing. Self-nominations are allowed. Information is available via the IALD website.

Elizabeth Donoff is Editor-at-Large of Architectural Lighting (AL). She served as Editor-in-Chief from 2006 to 2017. She joined the editorial team in 2003 and is a leading voice in the lighting community speaking at industry events such as Lightfair and the International Association of Lighting Designers Annual Enlighten Conference, and has twice served as a judge for the Illuminating Engineering Society New York City Section’s (IESNYC) Lumen Award program. In 2009, she received the Brilliance Award from the IESNYC for dedicated service and contribution to the New York City lighting community. Over the past 11 years, under her editorial direction, Architectural Lighting has received a number of prestigious B2B journalism awards. In 2017, Architectural Lighting was a Top Ten Finalist for Magazine of the Year from the American Society of Business Publication Editors' AZBEE Awards. In 2016, Donoff received the Jesse H. Neal Award for her Editor’s Comments in the category of Best Commentary/Blog, and in 2015, AL received a Jesse H. Neal Award for Best Media Brand (Overall Editorial Excellence).Prior to her entry into design journalism, Donoff worked in New York City architectural offices including FXFowle where she was part of the project teams for the Reuters Building at Three Times Square and the New York Times Headquarters. She is a graduate of Bates College in Lewiston, Me., and she earned her Master of Architecture degree from the School of Architecture at Washington University in St. Louis.
