The Rocky Mountain Lighting Academy, established by The Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder in 2012, held its first summer lighting course this past June. The four-day course welcomed 16 participants and provided a robust examination of the technical and design issues addressed in architectural lighting design as well as an overview of the mechanics of the lighting industry in North America. “For more than 30 years now, CU-Boulder’s Lighting Program has been well known in the industry for providing high quality technical lighting knowledge,” said Walter Beamer, instructor of building systems engineering at CU-Boulder in a press statement. “The Rocky Mountain Lighting Academy was established to deliver the same quality of technical lighting knowledge to industry professionals who otherwise would not have access to it without enrolling in our undergraduate lighting program.” With the success of the 2013 program, the RMLA plans to hold another course next summer. Details will be posted at http://rmla.colorado.edu when they become available.
