Estiluz App, Estiluz
Manufacturers are beginning to use augmented reality technology to allow specifiers and end-users to more accurately picture their luminaires in an actual space. Among them is Spanish decorative lighting studio Estiluz, which has released an iPhone and iPad app that uses the devices’ cameras with 3D renderings of the company’s product offerings. Fixture-specific markers for each luminaire can be downloaded, printed out, and hung in the space where the user would like to see the fixture. Using the app, designers simply point their device at the printout to view the desired product in the space. The image can then be downloaded, saved, and shared. • estiluz.com
